Curved Aluminium Glazing on a Birmingham Home

The Brief

The owners of a striking detached home in Birmingham wanted to make the most of a handsome curved turret bay that had never lived up to its potential. The room behind it felt closed off from the garden and darker than it deserved to be. They came to us for a run of slim-framed aluminium windows and doors that would follow the curve of the bay, open the room onto the garden, and let far more natural light into the space, all while sitting in keeping with the character of the property.

What We Did

Our work included:

• Surveyed the curved bay: Measured the sweeping turret opening carefully so each aluminium frame would follow the curve cleanly and sit true against the existing brickwork.
• Removed the old glazing: Took out the tired existing units and prepared the openings, protecting the surrounding masonry and interior throughout.
• Fitted slim-framed aluminium windows: Installed a run of thermally broken aluminium windows with narrow sightlines, maximising the glass area and the view out across the garden.
• Installed French doors onto the garden: Added aluminium French doors to open the room directly onto the outside space, giving an easy, generous connection between house and garden.
• Sealed and weatherproofed: Every frame was fully sealed, insulated and weatherproofed to keep the room warm and draught free through the seasons.
• Finished and handed over: Cleaned down the work, checked every opener and lock for smooth operation, and walked the owners through their new windows and doors.

The Result

A bright, welcoming room that now flows straight out to the garden. The slim aluminium frames follow the sweep of the turret bay beautifully, filling the space with light while keeping the clean, understated look the owners wanted. The new windows and doors are warm, secure and easy to use, and they sit comfortably with the character of this fine Birmingham home.
